Did you know that the average American home contains thousands of items? While a lot of these items are functional, plenty of them are also collectible or display items. People collect objects for a variety of reasons, including personal or family significance, as a monetary investment, or simply for fun!
One popular collector’s item is the Beanie Buddy. Like the more well-known Beanie Babies, Beanie Buddies are cute, animal-shaped stuffed toys. They tend to be larger than Beanie Babies and made out of softer material than their smaller counterparts.
With a large Beanie Buddies collection, you may be wondering what you should do with it. Should you treat your Beanie Buddies like other stuffed animals? Maybe you need to keep them in a lockbox, away from sunlight and other potential forms of damage?
Luckily for you, we have a list of several things you can do with them, whether you want to use them, get rid of them, or gift them to a new home.
Display Them
If you’re not inclined to use your Beanie Buddies as toys, but you’re not quite ready to get rid of them, you can put them on display in your home.
You can keep your Beanie Buddies on a shelf or in a cabinet. If you keep them on a shelf in the open air, you may want to consider storing them all in their original boxes and packaging. Otherwise, you risk having dust settle on the toys and not being able to fully clean them afterward.
If you don’t have the original packaging, keeping your Beanie Buddies in an enclosed display case is probably the best route to go.
Sell Them
Think you might be able to make some cash from all the Beanie Buddies you have lying around? As it turns out, you may be right. Depending on the kind of Beanie Buddies you have and the condition they are in, you may be able to turn a profit from selling them.
In general, Beanie Buddies tend to sell for less money than Beanie Babies. However, some of the rare Beanie Buddies (Royal Blue Peanut, Nana, Chef Robuchon, and others) can sell for thousands of dollars.
Even if you’re not looking to sell your Beanie Buddies right now but think you might in the future, keep them in as close to mint condition as possible, and avoid removing their tags if you can.
Donate Them
While Beanie Buddies have become something of a collector’s item, these stuffed toys were originally designed to be playthings for children. If you don’t want to keep your Beanie Buddies and also don’t care if you get any money for them, consider giving away your collection.
If you know someone with kids, give them away as a gift to the family. The parents are sure to appreciate the thoughtful gift! You could also take the plush toys to a religious organization, charity, or another kind of organization that takes donations of kids’ toys and redistributes them to families with children.
What You Do With Your Beanie Buddies Collection is Up to You
These are just a few options of what you can do with your Beanie Buddies collection. Whether you decide to use them, display them, or give them away, your Beanie Buddies are sure to bring joy to you or someone else in your life.
