Maid Sama Usui: A Basic Introduction
Takumi Usui is the main love interest of Misaki, who is handsome and well-liked in their school. He is a good athletic student and the girls around the school like him very much. They constantly confess their love to him and are rejected every time. Usui has eyes only for Misaki and he does his best to convince her that she wants to be in a relationship with him.

- His real name – Once Takumi moves to Japan then he actually put-on a name to help him blend in with his Japanese classmates and that’s Usui. Takumi is a part of a large noble family in Britain and his last name is actually Walker, the name of his father. Being an illegitimate son, Takumi doesn’t use the name.
- His Japanese name – The name ‘Takumi’ means “open sea” and Usui means “light.” His full name is a great physical description as he has eyes of the color of ocean and blonde hair.
- His Brother – He has a half-brother, Gerald who lives in England and is Takumi’s exact opposite. Both brothers look alike but are totally different. Gerald is not good and is an actively terrible cook but Takumi is relatively a good cook and puts his skills on display during the series.
- His cat – Takumi is actually not very much fond of animals and pets but you might suppose he would have been a cat over a dog. His cat and Takumi share the same features of being cunning, manipulative traits and make people want to seek them.
- His ethnic background – Takumi is mostly Japanese as his mother was Japanese but his father is a part of a noble family in Britain. Since Takumi lives in Japan, he doesn’t do much with this background. Takumi uses a Japanese name and lives in Japan away from the British side of his family.
- His family situation – Being an illegitimate child, Takumi never wants to share his family situation with anybody. He had done a lot to hide his life from his classmates and friends. Also, he chose a school in Japan that doesn’t have a good reputation in order to hide his upbringing. - Financial support – Initially, Takumi lived in Britain with his father’s family where he was paid for his schooling to keep him quiet. On the request of Takumi, he attended school and lived in Japan and the family agreed to keep him away and he was fully financially supported by his father’s family. He put up in an apartment alone and his schooling and living expenses were paid off by them. All was done to keep him quiet about his illegitimacy.

The series centers around Misaki Ayuzawa, a student council president of Seika High who also works secretly as a part-time job at the maid cafe, Maid Latte. The character of Misaki is quite complex as she has a double-life as a maid and the student council president.

- Hard worker – Her hard-working personality is the major attraction of the series. Whether it’s studying or working, she puts 110 percent and not even sickness can keep Misaki from giving things. She takes effort very seriously and that pushes her through and does it anyway.
- Exceptional student – With her hard work and dedication, it does not take much time for Misaki to be selected as the president of the student council. Her academic and athletic success in high school was all the result of her hard work paying off.
- Her kind nature – Misaki character in the series is shown as stubborn and aggressive but actually she is very kind. She often helps anyone in need and refuses to stand idle when she knows somebody needs help.
- Working as Maid Cafe – Misaki works at the maid cafe in order to support her family with the absence of her dad causing such a financial burden. The only reason behind it is to help her mother and sister.
- Her physical labor – Misaki has good athletic ability and training in Aikido but she was unable to handle physical labor when looking for a part-time job.
- Judgmental of men – Misaki had a bias against male students but she was a lot more protective of her female pals. It all happened when her father left the family in her young age and it leaves them with a sizable amount of debt. After this incident, Misaki started to view men as unreliable.
- Demon President – Misaki became the first female student council president and she had to get strict on the boys to handle their behavior. This gave her the nickname “Demon President” as she was rather strict with male students and showed no tolerance for any bad behavior.
- Difficult to admit her feelings – Misaki hides her feelings for Takumi in the series and she considers him as a friend only. As time passed, Misaki’s feelings for Takumi grew and she started to acknowledge and confess her love to him herself.
