The weekend is here – are you stuck doing the same old thing?
It’s no fun to have the same weekend plans every time a Friday rolls around. If you live in or are checking out San Diego houses for rent, you have no excuse; there’s plenty to do in this wonderful city.
From weird to cool and everything in between, here are some things to do in San Diego that won’t leave you bored.
Tour the Bay the Tiki Way
There are boat tours, and then there’s this.
Tiki Time Bay Tours are led by professional improv folks, making for a unique experience each time you go out with them.
The vessel is a floating colorful straw hut that serves drinks and holds up to 30 passengers. It’s great for both adult-only groups as well as families.
Hit the Mark
Axe throwing has grown in popularity over recent years, a unique outing that can double as a stress reliever.
There are several companies in the city to choose from, one being AxeVentures. Think of it as one big, slightly scarier, dart game as you fling specially-crafted small axes at a bullseyes.
Enter the Whaley House – If You Dare
If you’re into haunted things this is a must-see. The Whaley House is San Diego’s most iconic haunted house.
Built in 1856, this two-story home also served as the city’s first general store, commercial theater, and county courthouse.
Over the years, docents and volunteers have reported strange activity throughout the home. Travel Channel’s Most Haunted named the Whaley House the mose haunted home in the US.
You can catch a tour from the San Diego Ghost Hunters, who swing by monthly to do a paranormal investigation of the place.
Tour the Harper’s Topiary Garden
Edna and Alex Harper decided to do something about the boring shrubbery that lined the hilled landscape of their home – they made it fun.
This whimsical garden contains over 50 topiary creations, from dinosaurs and surfers to Buddha and animals. Many of these are inspired by the couples’ travels around the world.
The Harpers are kind enough to offer this experience to folks free of charge.
Take a Hula Class
Hula is a traditional dance and art form of the Hawaiian people, and you can learn its history and importance, as well as signature moves, at the San Diego Hula Academy.
See the Museum of Man
This museum of anthropology offers an array of interesting information about humanity and its achievements throughout the years.
It’s also quite the site to see. This ornate building dates back to 1915 and has a stunning array of designs on its outer façade.
Take a Seat at the Lucha Libre Taco Shop
Who doesn’t love a good taco? Who doesn’t love a good taco being eaten among wrestling themed décor?
Take a seat at the Champions Booth, which offers full service with a reservation and has you eating among gold seats and ropes.
There’s plenty of Mexican wrestling paraphernalia to look at as you chow down, as well as Mexican matches on the television.
